A drone to save lives

25 Jun A drone to save lives

Drones are already used in disaster relief operations. Some simply transmit images from the air and others are equipped with infrared cameras to detect human heat.

German researchers at the Fraunhofer FKIE institute have taken the research a step further and developed a drone that can detect the screams and noises made by people in distress.

It is equipped with 4 microphones to use beamforming to transmit the waves in a given direction.

They say they will not sell the product themselves, but organisations have already approached them for a possible partnership
